I wonder where my aethetic consciousness came from; and, how art form made us overcome the agony of existence; and, whether joyful heart for goodness may be the same as joyful heart for beauty, I read, in this relics, the mind of maker of this land who lived several thousand years ago. Archeology informs us of the origin of the art and makes us infer our consciousness of sculpture. Archeology is a pleasant kingdom to me. The earth where we are standing - this whole thing may be a historic site of wonderful treasures. -Heryun Kim

 

내가 가진 미의식이 어디에서부터 생겨났는지, 예술행위가 실존의 고통을 어떻게 이기게 해주었는지, 선한 것을 보고 기뻐하는 마음과 아름다움을 보고 기뻐하는 마음이 같은 것인지, 수천 년 전 이 땅의 제작자 마음을 유물에서 읽어본다. 예술의 기원을 알려주고 우리의 조형의식을 추론할 수 있게 해주는 고고학은 나에게 있어 즐거운 왕국이다. 우리가 서 있는 대지, 어쩌면 이 전체가 놀라운 보물들의 유적지일 수도 있다.                                                         – 김혜련
